When you are in Western restaurant you not supposed to hold the bowl in your hand. You are teaching Japanese manners but you showed total lack of understanding of Western manners. In formal settings doing this will be considered as rude behavior or just plain boorish.

I wasn't expecting furikake to be that easy to make! I'm a fan of white rice myself but I think that furikake is a must to season the rice in a Poke bowl (along with Ponzu sauce) and the store-bought ones are not only expensive but they use a lot of questionable ingredients... which makes it more delicious I guess, but I'm very curious to try a homemade one. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

My chances of ever finding myself in Japan, are microscopically small. That aside, It’s a wonderful now that you can dial up a video about Japanese table manners, or how to use chopsticks for that matter. And, it actually occurs to me at this moment that it might be best to encourage kids who have their heads buried in devices anyway to look up stuff like that Go ahead, learn how to use chopsticks. Learn six ways to tie a necktie… Learn tons of stupid, interesting little things. You never know what weird little skill may come in handy sometime for you, or someone you’re with. Anyway… Very thoughtfully presented sir.

I love inari sushi and over the years it’s disappeared from menus in the US. I imagine it may have something to do with so few Japanese restaurants actually being Japanese owned. However, when I did ask for it I’d get told inari was just for children. I quit trying to order. Now I’ll make my own. Thank you.

Available at just about every sushi restaurant in the US and any grocery store with a sushi counter which are common, at least on the west coast. Aburaage is often found in the "Asian" section of supermarkets too. It's usually one of the first pieces of sushi westerners are introduced to if they don't have an adventurous palate. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
